Shopify Theme Customiser

The Shopify Theme Customiser (also called the Theme Editor) is a visual drag-and-drop interface for editing your Shopify storefront without writing code. It lets merchants rearrange sections, update content, change colours and fonts, and preview changes across devices before publishing.

With Online Store 2.0 (OS2.0), the Theme Customiser became significantly more powerful. Sections can now be added to any page (not just the homepage), and each section is configurable with its own settings. This means marketing teams can build and modify landing pages, collection layouts, and content pages without developer involvement.

The Theme Customiser is one of the main reasons many brands don't need to go headless. If your team can build what they need using the customiser, you get self-service content management without the cost and complexity of a headless architecture. The question is whether the customiser's constraints match your brand's ambitions. See our guide on when to go headless for help deciding.

Think: the tool that lets marketing move fast without waiting on a developer.
